My sweet little grandbaby is getting so big!!!!

Reed, Paige and Henry. If you look back at some older posts you will see our cute little puppy, that's Henry!! Reed started middle school this year and Paige just turned 9!!

Wow, I can't believe I haven't blogged since January!! Too much to catch up now, so we will just start fresh!! Hopefully I will get my rear in gear and not go so long without posting.

He is the grandson to one of Laura Perdue's brothers. He is in the Primary Childrens Hospital. Basically he became ill on Christmas day and it was thought he had the flu or mono. Within 3 days he was diagnosed with leukemia and starting chemo!! Every parents nightmare! Please help in any way you can.

Whitney, Rusty, Avey and Ashley drove up for a few days so they could go to the temple with Cody. Cole stayed home and took care of Reed and Paige. Ashley tagged along with us so she could take care of Avey.

We had an AWESOME day. Cody was grinning from ear to ear the whole day. He is such a sweet kid! I will miss him so much while he's gone but I wouldn't want him doing anything else. He will make a great missionary!!

I was painting Paige's room one day when Cody and Cole came home. Paige was dressed up and dancing in her room since all the furniture was out.

As usual, when these big boys come home they immediately go to where Paige is so they can hug and kiss her. It's the sweetest thing ever. They absolutely adore her. I grabbed my camera so I could snap a few pics.

I chose a few of the pics and blew them up in black and white and put them in Paige's newly decorated room. Cody leaves for his mission in 2 weeks! (sob, sob) and Cole will be off to college in less than a year. Paige will be lost without them!

I want her to always remember how much her big brothers love and adore her!!

And the feeling is very mutual!!!

Too bad you cant see the words above her bed, it's so darling!!! Thanks Marnae! I love this room! I've been dreaming the room up in my head since the beginning of summer when I bought this headboard and footboard at a garage sale. They were an ugly brown. Not sure if you can tell that the walls behind the bed and where the big window is are actually striped. I painted the wall a satin pink and then painted stripes with the same color but in high gloss, very subtle stripes and so cute!! I found all the green furniture at a little 2nd hand store in town and I made the lamp shades. I usually worked on the room when paige was asleep so when she woke up in the morning there was always something new. The morning when she woke up and saw the lamp shades I could hear her say, "OOOH BEAUTIFUL!! THANK YOU MOMMY!" She loves her new room and that makes me SO HAPPY!

Holy Cow!! It's been SO LONG since I was able to blog, talk about withdrawls! Our computer died just shortly after my last post, which means I basically didn't post anything all summer! So here's some catch up with pictures to follow. The summer was spent doing what we usually do, boating. We knew this would be our last summer with Cody for awhile so we wanted to make the best of it. Which leads to our biggest surprise of the summer!! Cody's mission call! So picture this, for 19 years you wait and wonder where in the big wide world your little boy will be called to serve. Now picture that boy all grown up and the biggest jokester on the planet, seriously, this kid can't be serious to save his life. A FINE quality he inherited from his father. So the day comes when the much anticipated envelope from Salt Lake is in the mail box. We have to WAIT til Tyler Perdue gets here before opening it! I guess that's only appropriate since Tyler, Cody and Cole have been joined at the hip since birth. FINALLY, he gets here, we have 5 cell phones sitting on the coffee table with 5 groups of people on speaker phone, Eric is doing the drum roll, I'm about to hyperventilate when Cody rips open the envelope and reads: YOU ARE HEARBY CALLED TO SERVE IN THE UTAH, PROVO MISSION!! HUH? Everyone in the room, and everyone on all 5 phones are yelling, come on Cody!! Where are you really going! He reads again, UTAH, PROVO MISSION. Again, quit jokin around Cody! Where are you really going? Cody, still sitting there with that big goofy grin of his says for the third time, UTAH, PROVO MISSION! Stunned silence. Then I grab the paper, read it for myself, and immediately start looking for the 1-800 number to Salt Lake so I can call the Brethren and let them know that clearly they have made a mistake! Do they not realize that HALF OUR FAMILY lives there? Do they not realize that besides Redmond Oregon Cody has spent most of his life in Provo Utah? What happened to spreading the gospel to the four corners of the earth? Is there even a non-member in his entire mission? About 10 minutes after we have ALL read the first line of his mission call Tyler pipes up and says, "hey dude, you have to learn spanish." again, with the huh? So we read on, YOU ARE HEARBY CALLED TO SERVE IN THE UTAH PROVO MISSION in the SPANISH LANGUAGE. A little later in the day Eric and I pull Cody aside to let him know that it's okay if he's feeling a little disappointed that he got called to Provo Utah. He isn't, but he is a little disappointed in his pathetic parents who thought he might be. After all, "this is a MISSION CALL, not a vacation." Oops, our bad. Since then we have learned some great things about his mission. Last Sunday our high councilman was visiting our ward for fast and testimony meeting. Cody's mission call was announced that day. So our councilman gets up at the very end of the meeting and says, years ago when we were taking our first son to the MTC to begin his mission to Indiana we passed a couple of elders walking down the road there in Provo. We all said something like, wow, how would you like to be called to serve in Provo Utah! With accompanying snickers. A year and half later his second son received his mission call to, you guessed it, Provo Utah. And it was AWESOME! He went on to say that his son never had to pay for a meal at a restaurant because someone would always run up and pay for them before they could. He never had to pay for his dry cleaning for the same reason. He never had to knock on doors because there were too many people to teach, they didn't need to knock on doors. In fact, at one point he was serving at BYU, he and his companion were given permission by the president to extend their curfew at night because they didn't have enough hours in the day to teach everyone who wanted to be taught! We have also learned that his mission is consistently the highest baptizing mission in the church. So what does that all mean? It means my sweet little boy will be spending the next two years teaching the spanish speaking people in Utah about our Savior Jesus Christ, and teaching A LOT!! Nothing could make me happier. He leaves November 18th. So for other summer fun we made two trips to visit Whitney, Rusty and sweet baby Avey. Fun Times!! Pictures of our summer fun will be posted tomorrow.

My First Marathon!

The lady on the right is a 63 year old woman who has run 44 marathons and will comeplete her 50th one in november. She is running a marathon in every state Her left arm is in a cast, she broke it in a marathon in Wyoming.

Right at the end the large lady on the right passed us and i thought what the he$% im letting her beat me?! Then i didnt care if she beat me but i got a whif of her BO and ashley and I picked up our step and never let her in front of us again.

Ashley and I did a half marathon on the 4th of July, she did a full marathon in Salt Lake before she came home for the summer but i have never done anything like this. Ashley assured me that even in my advanced years i could do it! The last three miles were a killer but thats ok because i thought the last ten miles would be a killer. This marathon was on Sauvie Island near portland, it was beautiful!

Reed had some money burning a hole in his pocket yesterday so I gave in and took him to the store. He bought a $30 slip and slide. We came home, hooked it up and realized it was a major piece of junk. So we took it back today and he got his money back and spent $8 on some good ol plastic! We made our own slip and slide and it was AWESOME!!!!!

Pole Peddle Paddle Race 2009

May 16 2009 was the 33rd annual Pole Peddle Paddle Race here in beautiful Bend Oregon. We decided to participate in the race this year and when I say WE I mean even ME, even tho I didn't actually officially participate. But, I signed everyone up and I ran from place to place to take pictures, with Paige in tow, so in my book on an 84 degree day with Paige whining for everything from a snuggle with a movie, which sounded really good at times, to the guys beer who was sitting next to us at the canoe leg, she was thirsty, I felt like I had run a marathon when it was all over, but it sure was fun!!! It started out with Eric doing the downhill skiing part, then Cody took off on a 5 mile cross country ski route. He had never cross country skiied in his life!! He did great!! Even after falling over after the first mile and breaking his pole!! So the one pole wonder finally arrived and Cole took off on his bike and headed 22 miles from Mt. Bachelor to Bend. My pictures start there. I have some from the beginning that Eric took but I couldn't find them on my computer this morning. I hate computers, wait, I love computers. Ok, I love computers when they don't make me feel stupid, so mostly I hate them. I know those pictures are on here somewhere!!!! UGH! So for now enjoy the ones I COULD find.

Reed LOVES this baby! While we were visiting Whitney and Rusty a couple of weeks ago for Avey's blessing, Avey started to get a little fussy one day so Reed did "the walk". Reed played Paul Revere in a special wax museum at school. The kids all dressed up in character and then stood very still, if someone came up and touched their hand they would go into character and pretend to be that person. It was very cute. You will also see his friend Croy who was Davey Crockett, Matt as Abraham Lincoln and Tommy is Wilbur Wright, or one of the Wright brothers anyway.

Paige and I went to Whitney and Rusty's a week before spring break. Eric and the boys came later. Of course I was anxious to get that baby born!! Not as anxious as her 9 month pregnant mommy tho. So we did A LOT of walking! The weather was beautiful and these were great times to remember. Ashley would meet us at Whit's apartment and we would load Paige into a shopping cart we found and off we would go! Paige would listen to Whitney's ipod and just enjoy the ride. I'm sure we were quite the sight. On one of our trips I had my camera and Paige took some pictures of our walk. I kept a few and here they are. I deleted about 100 shots of passing cars, pavement, trees and the shopping cart. Ü

Here we are at our vacation rental which was an old pioneer home built in 1867. It was completely redone inside and so cute! It was big a spacious with plenty of room for us all to hang out. Here are pics of Ashley, Cody, Cole, Reed and Paige jumping on the tramp, oh yeah, and Whitney too. Maybe that's why she went into labor the next morning! Eric and Rusty got the BBQ fired up for dinner, Paige fed the horses that lived behind us and Rusty played a game of football with Reed. Avey Lynn arrived at 8:24 AM on March 23, 2009. She weighed 7 lbs. 4 oz. and was 19 inches long. She was born in the same hospital as her mommy so that was a big de javu for Eric and I! That one picture of her is kind of bloody because when they cut the cord they didn't clamp it off soon enough. Every time Paige sees that pic she says oh ow! Baby Avey ok?

So Whitney, Rusty, Eric and I have been trying to decided what we will be called since the traditional old Grandma and Grandpa sounds kind of boring. At first Eric said his grandkids can just call him SIR. Haha so Eric. Then he said well I'm just a grumpy old guy so how about Grog, short for grumpy old guy. I'm afraid that might stick. For me we thought of nanny, nana, granny and even mum, but that was too close to Mom. I have a friend who calls her grandma Momma Mia, I like that but's it a mouthful when they are little, so I'm thinking they can call me My Mia, since i will be their Mia, or just Mia for short. Cute eh? I LOVE BEING A MIA!!!!!

A day in the hospital

We practically lived at the hospital during the 24 hours that Whit was there, and when I say we I mean the whole dang fam!! It was a small room, but we didn't care, everyone wanted to be close to Avey Lynn. Reed and Paige also liked the hospital bed and whatever food they could get from Whitney's great meals, and Cody liked the wheelchairs. Not sure where he even found them, but he did.

Paige had her first dentist appt, and boy oh boy was she excited!!! I got the feeling from the dental office that they were a little apprehensive about treating her, I'm not sure why but I assume because of her Downs. Maybe they have had a bad experience in the past, who knows. But what they got was the PERFECT patient!!! Paige sat very still and did everything they told her to do, she was so dang cute. She even did the whole flouride treatment that kids hate with no fuss!! When the dentist came in he joked around with her and she joked right back. He spent about 15 minutes with her checking her teeth and kidding around with her. When he was done he gave me a very warm sincere smile and said, "THANK YOU, for bringing her in so we could get to know her." So little Paigey Poo managed to warm some hearts and make new friends today.

Since I didn't have a blog when Whitney and Rusty got married I've decided to add some of my favorite pictures now! It was a beautiful wedding! I loved the day we had her bridal pictures taken. It was just Eric, me, Whitney and Paige plus the photographer of course. We went up into a canyon near Logan Utah and took some pictures and then went to the campus of Utah State University. It was a gorgeous summer day as you can see. At one point when we were on campus she was standing there getting her picture taken and this guy walks by, stops and says, "wow, you're beautiful!" and the photographer said, "and clearly, she's taken!" Eric also picked out her dress, at first Whitney didn't like it at all and wasn't even going to try it on. So we all picked out some others, some of which she really liked. Then the girl who was helping us at the store came to the dressing room and said, "your dad really likes this one." So Whit tried it on and before she even looked in the mirror she said, "I think this is the one!" She stepped out of the dressing room to show Eric and of course he cried, so then I cried. Oh boy. The dress was perfect! And as you can see she certainly made a beautiful bride.

Eric and I met the kids in San Francisco the end of October. Kids meaning Whitney, Rusty and Ashley. We stayed in a cute condo in the Castro District which we learned later is the GAY district!! We were right in the middle of gaysville. Literally! We were also there for Halloween which seems to be a big deal there. We went to a deli to buy our bus and train tickets and the guy working there said, "Oh boy!! You have never seen costumes like gay costumes!" And boy was he right!! We saw enough wierd, disgusting, disturbing constumes to last a lifetime! But besides that, we had a great time with the kids, hopping buses and trains all around the city, riding trolly cars and going to a Ducks game in the pouring rain!! A great time was had by all! We even took the girls to see the houses that they show on the Full House tv show, since they were fans of the show but refuse to admit it.

Just for fun I've decided to post some old photos of me and Eric. We started dating when he was 15 and I was 17!!! We dated for 4 years before he went on his mission to London England. We got married 3 months after he got home. We will be married 25 years in 2009!!!! Wow! Time flies! I guess it's fair to say we literally grew up together! Two crazy teenagers.

Merry Christmas! We had a white christmas! First one here in a long time. Pretty much a picture perfect Christmas except we were missing two very important elements! Whitney and Rusty!! We missed you both but my favorite Christmas present today was learning that you are coming here next week! YEA!!! I know you are probably thinking GREAT!
